Halloween at Beech-wooooo-d!

It’s Hallowe’en and it’s a glorious Saturday here in East Sussex. We’re just getting ready for the sun to set at Beechwood so that the witches and ghouls can come out to play. We’re awaiting tonight’s guests and we’re wondering whether they are going to trick us because they will certainly have a real 5 star treat this weekend as we always try to provide for our guests. Tommy, Benji and Teddy Bear will greet them with their howling wolves impressions, Ceri will ghost around whilst giving his rendition of “Spooky” and “Bat Out Of Hell” and our Lady In Black, Carol, will do her best Morticia Adams impression because she has ‘It’. Tonight’s dinner will be pumpkin pie, Monster Mash served with a magical gravy potion. We all hope that everyone enjoys their Hallowe’en and try to sleep well!

Glyndebourne 2015

After a very busy and incredibly well-received series of summer performances, the new season of Touring Glyndebourne is upon us. The autumn productions include Saul and Don Pasquale which begin at the opera house here in East Sussex and then take to the road, visiting UK towns such as Canterbury, Milton Keynes, Woking and Plymouth. The autumn productions will, no doubt, be as well received and the performances throughout the summer, without the formal dress code that is a necessity during the summer. As we are only a 10 minutes drive from Glyndebourne, Beechwood is the perfect base for people visiting the opera and we always try to offer our visitors a comfortable and relaxing stay, which seems to help set the scene perfectly.

Today we visited Sheffield Park gardens which is a National Trust property just 20 minutes drive from Beechwood. It is generally agreed that autumn and spring are the best times to visit Sheffield Park and that is most certainly true, especially on such a lovely sunny day like today. The colours were breathtaking and accentuated by the reflections in the beautiful lakes that visitors are able to walk around. I’ve never seen so many visitors, young, old and canine, at a National Trust at one time and they were all constantly taking photographs. It was photography heaven! We are so blessed here at Beechwood to have an abundance of fabulous places to visit, with many National Trust and English Heritage properties, not to mention privately-owned castles and historical sites. We have visited many of them and can say with honesty that each offer something different to cater for everyone’s needs.

New Trip Advisor review from lovely happy guests.

“A luxury, comfortable, homely relaxed weekend.”

My 20 year old son and I stayed at Beechwood B&B on 16th and17th of October while attending Brighton Uni Open Day and it was just perfect in every way. A beautiful house tastefully decorated with lovely paintings and ornaments. A stunning and immaculate garden. Breakfast had a great choice and was delicious. The beds were comfy and cosy and everywhere was spotlessly clean. Carol and Ceri were warm and friendly. The service was excellent and nothing was too much trouble for them. Although it was on an A road you couldn’t hear any traffic but the road was not lit and it could do with street lighting. We had a weekend of luxury living in a beautiful house with lovely people and I am longing to stay again either with whole family or for a romantic weekend in the Emerald room.

Room Tip: Ruby room overlooked the huge stunning garden and was so peaceful.

Renovation work.

In the last few weeks Beechwood B and B has had two new bathrooms installed. The Emerald room and the Ruby room have both had en-suite renovations. Luxury large showers have been installed and marble tiled walls and floors. We continue to make alterations to Beechwood to maintain our accredited 5* GOLD.

Beechwood is just outside Lewes in the small Hamlet of Halland, few miles from Uckfield, Lewes Eastbourne and Brighton.

This autumn the Glyndebourne Tour returns to deliver world-class opera on stage and on screen to venues across the country including Canterbury, Milton Keynes, Norwich, Plymouth, and Woking, as well as three weeks of performances at home.

On stage there will be three  operas – two new productions transferring directly from Festival 2015 and an acclaimed revival of a Donizetti favourite. Billy Budd, the powerful Michael Grandage production, will also be playing on screen at local cinemas. It really is a season not to be missed.
