Beechwood and Glyndebourne

So, another wonderful opera season draws to a close at Glyndebourne and we at Beechwood are very pleased to continue our association in providing luxury accommodation for the many opera visitors. We always aim to offer relaxation, unrivalled quality and care both in the lead up to guests attendance at Glyndebourne and their return to Beechwood. The season runs from the end of May through to August Bank Holiday with a range of popular and slightly more obscure operas alternating throughout each week. It’s always a joy to see our guests leaving for Glyndebourne dressed in all their finery with gentlemen in black tie and tuxedos and ladies in evening gowns. Bearing in mind the current weather situation in East Sussex (scorching unbroken sunshine) the prospect of enjoying a sumptuous picnic during the interval must be very desirable and for those enjoying the Glyndebourne restaurants, they can always be guaranteed amazing service and food. Many stay for 2 nights and enjoy a filling, beautifully presented breakfast before attending the opera. Most are overcome by the combination of food on offer both with us and Glyndebourne and opt for just a light breakfast on the morning after! It’s such a shame that June was such a wet month as it makes attending Glyndebourne very difficult but it didn’t seem to dampen the spirits of our guests at the time.

Of course, in the not too distant future is the touring Glyndebourne season. This begins at Glyndebourne on Friday 14th October with 13 dates ending on 3rd November and then moving to Milton Keynes, Canterbury, Norwich, Woking and ending on 10th December in Plymouth. The tour performances will be Don Giovanni, Madame Butterfly and Saul and although the occasions are less glamorous (normal day suits are acceptable) and tickets are generally cheaper, the performances themselves are certainly on a par with the summer season.

Naturally we are available to offer our usual quality accommodation for people wanting to bask in such culture at Glyndebourne. So hurry – book your tickets and book your accommodation at Beechwood to get the best of both worlds  ……

Beechwood and Airbourne

http://www.eastbourneairshow.com

So, Summer has reached a plateau of warmth, sunshine and many local activities to occupy everyone, no matter what their interests. The annual feature for East Sussex during this weekend is the Eastbourne Airshow, which attracts thousands from all over the country. We are blessed (unusually) this year with amazing weather and perfect conditions for the ultimate in aircraft displays, from Spitfires and Lancaster Bombers, wing-walkers, parachutists, helicopters and of course, the highlight as always is the jaw-dropping speed, precision and agility of the world-renowned Red Arrows. On the ground, there are stalls, demonstrations, the opportunity to chat with experienced pilots and technicians and events for all ages all along the promenade. There is such a buzz of activity and lot to take in.

Here at Beechwood, we witness many of the aircraft heading to and from Eastbourne overhead and the whole event is timed with military precision. It’s a joy to look up to such a clear blue sky and to see so many aeroplanes of varying sizes and speeds pass by.

Of course, with Airbourne attracting so many people, accommodation is in great demand. The majority of hotels and bed and breakfasts in Eastbourne and the surrounding areas have been booked out for weeks so the message for future years is simple. Book your accommodation at the earliest convenience to avoid disappointment and certainly don’t leave it to chance.

Beechwood for the Olympics

https://www.rio2016.com/en

Here, at Beechwood, we are getting excited about the forthcoming 2016 Rio Olympics. Can it really be 4 years since London? Where does the time go? Those 4 years have been very busy and productive. There has been the repeated updating of our bedrooms and we continually look to make improvements in every aspect of the hospitality business that concerns us. We go out of our way to ensure that all guests, new and repeat, are given the gold medal treatment and we can safely say that all are more than satisfied, with the majority looking forward to returning for another Olympic-style podium reception!

Of course, during a stay here at Beechwood, guests can guarantee a breakfast with our five Olympic rings containing a Full English of Olympian proportions, a gold medal for finishing our marathon baked eggs, a sprint to the finish with smoked salmon and scrambled eggs, the cycling endurance tested with the two wheels that are served as Eggs Benedict or the grace and delicacy of our gymnastic Yoghurt Parfait. You can even keep up to date with the Olympic progress as you enjoy breakfast from our conservatory overlooking our well-tended and extensive garden.

Naturally, all Olympic athletes require perfect comfort both during and between competition and here we try to create the perfect ambience where everyone can enjoy a peaceful night on beds designed to give the maximum comfort. Even Mo Farah would struggle to get up in the morning!

So come on all you Team GB athletes, do your best and make Britain proud!
