Christmas and New Year at Beechwood

Aah, “It’s the most wonderful time of the year!” famously crooned the late great Andy Williams. At Beechwood we luxuriate in the warm feelings emitted from tinsel, Christmas decorations, Christmas carols, mulled wine, mince pies and the joys of Christmas shopping!

Naturally, Christmas brings unbridled festive happiness here and we go to great lengths to adorn our B&B in such a way that visitors can’t help but get in the spirit. We take such care to decorate as perfectly as we possibly can and in the process get limitless personal satisfaction and enjoyment from the fruits of our labour. Christmas brings with it the sounds of presents being wrapped and the anticipation of seeing the smiles when loved ones unwrap them on Christmas morning. With Christmas Day being Carol’s birthday we take great care to make sure that her personal day of celebration doesn’t get lost in the usual festive melee so we make sure that she gets separate gifts for Christmas and birthday, wrapped in perfectly identifiable paper, with separate cakes for each occasion. This all brings even more of a festive spirit to Beechwood, to be surrounded by family and all wanting to bring the best the day has to offer.

Of course with Beechwood being centrally located for many tourist attractions and all within easy road access, there are countless festive activities taking place. Why not stay with us and enjoy the glorious warm glow of a Sussex Christmas? The abundance of National Trust venues in the area all place great emphasis upon Christmas celebrations and all are decorated to the highest standard, as you’d expect. Well worth a visit is Wakehurst Place near Ardingley. This fantastic National Trust property is home to a stunning house and vast woodland walks and gardens. At Christmas it also houses the largest Christmas tree in Sussex and it’s worth visiting at this time of year just to sample a Christmas spectacle in all its glory! There are numerous Christmas carol gatherings and performances organised at these National Trust venues and also in the local towns of Uckfield and Lewes. These certainly help get people in the mood for Christmas and there’s a festive buzz wherever you go. There’s a joyous wonder and a real sense of harmony when people join together to sing carols and add to that the spectacular surroundings of a National Trust venue. How could anyone fail to be inspired at Christmas?

Once Christmas has passed in a blur, often brought on by the usual excesses, we all look forward to seeing in the New Year. Resolutions and the anticipation of a fresh start usually dominate the mindset of many (once the hangovers have cleared, of course!). There’s the excitement of shaping the next year and the effect our efforts will potentially have upon us and our loved ones. We see in the New Year at The Grand Hotel in Eastbourne where Ceri works as a musician (in great demand over the period!) and Carol wouldn’t miss it for the world! New Year’s Eve tends to be regarded as the party occasion of the year, so if you are attending a party here in East Sussex, you could relieve some of the stress that comes with travelling to a party by booking to stay with us. Go on, pamper yourselves in to 2017!

Well, there’s only one way to sign off at this time of year and that is to wish everyone a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY AND PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR!
